Ingredients
- 473 ml warm water
- 3 tbsp sugar (white sugar, brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup it doesn’t really matter)
- 1 1/2 tbsp dried yeast
- 1 1/2 tbsp oil (I use vegetable oil but olive oil would work as well)
- 750g general purpose flour
Instructions
- Mix water and sugar then add yeast in a mixing cup and set aside until the yeast gets going.
- When the yeast is foamy add it to the flour and oil in a bowl and mix. Once everything is mostly mixed in (no pools of liquid anywhere) dump the bowl onto a work surface that has been sprayed with a cooking spray (I use straight veg oil in a mister) and kneed until smooth.
- Divide the dough into two equalish parts, you can either do this by eye or use a scale.
- Form two oblong balls by pulling the top of the dough ball around the bottom of the ball to create a smooth top. No need to be super picky about how it looks, you will get the hang of it after a few loafs.
- Put the dough into a bread pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil.
- If you want a fancier looking bread loaf you can put a few slashes on the top of the loaf with a sharp oiled knife.
- Cover with a towel or plastic wrap for 25 minutes. If your house is cool (below 20C or so) and your oven has a bread proof setting, use it. I have put bread loafs on top of the fridge in the past to rise just remember that they are there LOL.
- Preheat the oven to 350F and bake your bread for 25-30 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
